Clara ("the App", "we", "us") is designed to prioritize your privacy. The core function of the App—scanning beauty websites for specific ingredients—is performed entirely locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal browsing history, search queries, or shopping data.2. Data Collection and UsageNo Personal Data Collection: We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide your email address to use the App. We do not know who you are.
Local Processing: When you visit a supported website (e.g., Sephora, Ulta), the App scans the text of that specific page to identify ingredients. This analysis happens instantly on your device. The content of the webpages you visit is never sent to our servers or any third parties.
Settings & Preferences: Your preferences (e.g., toggling "Carcinogen" detection on/off) are stored locally on your device using Apple’s secure storage (UserDefaults).3. Permissions ExplainedTo function, the Clara Safari Extension requires permission to "Read and change data on all websites" (or specific websites).Why we need this: This technical permission is required for the extension to "see" the text on the product page so it can find the ingredient list.
How we use it: We strictly use this permission to search for ingredient names (e.g., "Parabens") within the page content. We do not read your emails, passwords, credit card numbers, or any other private information.4. Third-Party ServicesApple App Store: The App is distributed via the Apple App Store. Apple may collect anonymous usage statistics (like crash reports or installation counts) subject to your own privacy settings on your device. We do not have access to your individual identity through these reports.5. Data Retention
Since we do not collect your personal data, we do not have any data to retain or delete. Your settings remain on your device until you delete the App.6. Updates to This Policy
